Most people remember something about their first day of school the first time, whether it was kindergarten or first grade. Perhaps (me recalls being afraid of a variety of things: Leaving Mom and Dad; big yellow school buses with bright red flashers; classmates crying; or too-tall teachers who gaze down like giants.
What one doesn't recall, perhaps, is the day-one dedication of bus drivers, teachers and administrators who care enough to make a child’s first impression a good impression.
This was the case at Rappahannock’s elementary school last Thursday, where administration, educators and support staff worked together to ensure the safety of 61 kindergarteners who attended school for the first time.
