The West Virginia hills called to Frank and Doris Donald, and off they went on a three day camping trip to the “Mountain State”. Their first night was spent in the beautiful Douthat State Park in Clifton Forge, Va. Then on to the West Virginia State Fair in Lewisburg where they saw the Louise Mandrell Show with the Nichols Brothers. And was Louise gorgeous!!! The fair was fantastic - the Donalds really en- , joyed the harness racing and horse show. They camped nearby in White Sulphur Springs at the Greenbriar State Forest. Everything was perfect! They pushed on to the Northeastern Appalachian Highlands to a scenic area called DOLLY SODS. It was unbelievable, with an arctic appearance like western Canada. It was steep, wild, eerie and lovely, all at the same time. With the extreme ruggedness of the land, the drive was on a bad, duty, dirt road and the hike on the trail to the overlook was difficult with plenty of boulders and heavy, fierce winds. But once they got there, the views were so great with laurel and rhododendron, and distorted, windblown spruce trees, that they strongly recommend this exciting adventure to everyone!
Neal and Judy Fridenstine visited their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Fridenstine, for dinner last Sunday on the way home to Lancaster, Va. They had just been to Front Royal where they enrolled their two children at Randolph Macon Academy for the school year. David, age 16, is now a Flight Sergeant, and 13 year old Lynn is starting her first year there. Both children are happy to be attending the same school, which also pleases their parents.
