The breakdancing film, “Beat Street” will be shown on Saturday and Sunday, February 2 and 3, at the Gay Street Theatre in Washington at 7:30 p.m. Outstripped at the box office by “Breakin” dancers and critics agree that this is the far better breakdance film. It’s rated PG.
French Still-Life Lecture Scheduled
The Virginia Museum will present a free public lecture on artist Paul Gauguin and the French still-life tradition Friday, February 1 at 8:15 p.m, as part of its Understanding Art Lecture Series.
Gabriel Wesiberg, art historian, author and assistant director of humanities projects for the National Endowment for the Humanities, will discuss Gauguin’s approach to still-life subjects, including reference to the artist’s “Still Life with Oysters,” an 1876 painting included in the Virginia Museum’s Mellon collection.
The Museum is on the Boulevard at Grove Avenue, two miles from exit 14 from 1-95 in Richmond.
Slide Show Planned
The slide presentation scheduled for the Rappahannock County Library on Tuesday, February 12 at 7:30 p.m. might be entitled “Travels with Andy,” for Andrea Klopp will show pictures taken on her journeys in New Zealand, South Island and Alaska. Klopp will answer questions from the audience about subjects of interest.
Agricultural Regional
Conference Scheduled
A regional conference on Agricultural Policy, the 1985 farm bill, is scheduled for Tuesday, March 5 at the Holiday Inn in Culpeper. This conference is for an audience of farmers, agribusiness managers and leaders of farm organizations and agricultural agencies. However, any interested person may attend. Corn-Soybean Conference Planned

Rehearsals Announced
The Culpeper-Piedmont Choral Society, Lois Shanks, Music Director, announces rehearsals for its 18th annual Spring Concert will begin on Monday, February 4 at 7:45 p.m. at the Culpeper Presbyterian Church, 215 South Main Street. There are openings for new members in all sections and all men and women who are familiar with singing fourpart choral music will be considered. An early May date is planned for the concert of “Brahms to Broadway.”
