Anderson and Ijrace ask us to put aside for a moment our careful and cunning little calculations as to whether we individually derive a net benefit from some federal program or subsidy and, for at least once, think of the total nightmare in the midst of which farm subsidies, Social Security COLA’s and the rest of the federal “goodies” must all disappear. They ask us to think of the children and grand-children we love, eWn if we expect to be dead before the roof falls in.
Specifically, they ask us to sign and send to Citizens Against Waste, Dept. P, P.O. Box 1000, Ben Franklin Station, Washington, D.C. 20044 the following: Taxpayers’ Declaration; “As the owners of the U.S. Government, we protest the appalling waste of our money by those we entrust to spend it. We demand action, not more discussion, to stop the excessive and unnecessary squandering of government funds for foolish projects, wasteful programs, and inefficient operations. We want corrective measures taken against those in Congress and the federal bureaucracy who irresponsibly authorize and misspend tax dollars.” Signed and addressed.
Let’s hear it from Rappahannock County; 1 agree with Grace and Anderson that such a Taxpayers’ Declaration signed by millions of Americans will get results. I hope that other readers of your newspaper also agree and will sign and forward this absolutely not partisan Declaration.
