Asked about additional funding for construction, as well as a time schedule for completion of the Rt. 211 project, Mr. Askew said that “we won’t know about that until after the Governor’s Commission (on Transportation Into the 21st Century) submits its recommendations ... (but) being in the CHIP program I would think that funding will come soon. We are anxiously awaiting what the panel and the legislature will do.”
Mr. Askew also said that he is “well aware of the problem” of increased truck traffic in Rappahannock due to the closing of Rt. 17 in Fauquier County. He explained that the Commissioner of Highways and
