Christmas tree farm bus tour

TheChristmas Tree Plantation Management bus tour will be held August 26. Stops include Skyline Evergreen Farm, Glen Manor Christmas Tree Farm, Fannon Baumgardner’s Christmas Tree Plan* tation, Shenandoah Countryside Tree Farm, and lunch at the Northern Virginia 4-H Educational Center. Registration will begin at 7:46 a.m. in the Luray Caverns parking lot on Highway 211 outside of Luray. The bus(es) will depart promptly at 8:15 a.m. and will return about 5 p.m. Space is limited to a first-come, first-served basis. Advance registration for the bus and lunch, or lunch only, is required. Registration and fees must be sent by August 8 (call 703-675-3619 to determine if space is available after this date) to Rappahannock Extension Office, P.O. Box 119, Washington, VA 22747-0119.

The registration fee includes lunch, refreshments, door prizes and bus where applicable. Checks should be made out to “Christmas Tree Bus Tour:” Lunch only is $7, lunch and bus, $15. For additional information or if you have questions, call 675-3619.

Psych testing lecture

A free lecture entitled “Psychological Testing: Its Uses and Abuses,” sponsored by the Mental Health Unit of Loudoun Memorial Hospital, will be offered Thursday, August 7, from noon until 1 p.m. in Conference Room I of the hospital annex. RCHS fall sports tryouts

All athletes planning to go out for a fall sport at RCHS should make plans to meet August 11 with practice clothes and a current (after July 1, 1986) doctor’s physical. Physical forms are available at RCHS any weekday between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Athletes will not be allowed to practice until their coach has the proper physical in hand.

Tryouts for girls’ basketball (varsity and JV) will start at 10*a.m. August 11 in the RCHS gymnasium. Girls interested in trying out but unable to attend this first meeting must call Coach Leake at 987-8236.

Tryouts for soccer and cross country (boys and girls) will be held at 7 p.m. August 11. Soccer members should meet on the soccer field while cross country members are to meet on the outside bleachers.

Cheerleaders will be contacted directly at a later date for their start-up meeting.

Any athlete wishing to go out for one of these spoils but who is unable to make the first meeting should call RCHS (967-8575) and leave a message that will be relayed to your coach. This includes any girls’ basketball player not able to get in touch with Coach Leake.
