Del. Raymond R. (Andy) Guest last week released a letter which he received from State Highway Commissioner Ray D. Pethtel in reply to a request which Mr. Guest made for a truck ban on Rt. 522 from Front Royal to Rt. 211.
Mr. Guest’s letter, dated June 11, followed by nine days a fatal accident involving two tractor-trailers, a car and a farm tractor on Rt. 522 just south of Chester Gap in Rappahannock County.
Mr. Pethtel’s reply stated that “Although traffic conditions along this two-lane facility are not improving to any extent, we feel that a truck ban is not appropriate at the present time due to the low number of truck related accidents. ..
