Scottish music
in Culpeper
Hamish Moore and Kate Harrigan will present an evening of Scottish music at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, August 10, as the sixth of the Bluemont Concert Series being held on Culpeper’s Courthouse lawn, Peter H. Dunning, Bluemont’s cofounder and director, has announced.
Mr. Moore, originally a Highland piper, is known as one of the finest players of Cauld Wind Pipes which are the Scottish Small Pipes, a group of bellows blown bagpipes related to the Highland Pipes.
Ms. Harrigan, who plays the clarsach (Celtic harp), has received awards for her playing in Scotland and Ireland. She also sings and plays the piano.
Families are encouraged to bring a blanket, folding chairs and a picnic, Mr. Dunning added. In event of rain, the concert will be held at an indoor location to be announced on Culpeper’s WCVA beginning at 5:30 p.m.
Culpeper’s series of outdoor concerts will continue Sundays through August 17, provided the fund raising goal of $8,000 is reached.
