A late afternoon blaze gutted the home of Jack L. and Linda Ranker on Rt. 659 last Thursday.
According to Flint Hill F’ire Chief Frank Huff, Jr., the house “was fully involved when the first truck arrived. The floors had col lapsed.” Chief Huff said that all the fire fighters could do was try to save what was left of the frame of the house.
Mrs. Ranker said that she was out in her garden with her youngest daughter Sarah, 2. “I thought my neighbor was burning trash. Then I saw smoke from the kitchen, so 1 went inside.
