John S. Browning completed

a lengthy career in banking when he retired effective July 31 from his position with Farmers and Merchants National Bank, Flint Hill Branch. His tenure of service in the Flint Hill establishment covered almost 48 years.

William C. Printz of Amissville, local agent for Peoples Life Insurance Company, will be cited as one of the Washington, D. C., company’s leading field sales producers at the annual Sales Leaders’ Conference to be held August 18, 19, 20 and 21 at the King’s Inn, International Hotel in Freeport, Grand Bahama Island. A native of Rappahannock County, Mr. Printz has been an Amissville resident all of his life. He joined Peoples Life in 1953.

is attending the Culinary Institute of America for a special, advanced course given each year by the school for professional chefs.

An end of summer picnic and swimming party is planned for the 4-H members of Rappahannock for Friday, August 20, at the South Wales Swim Club pool near Amissville.
