wheat program
Warren and Rappahannock County fanners who participate in the 1987 wheat program will be eligible for price support loans at $2.28 per bushel, 12 cents less than the 1986 loan rate and target price protection of $4.38 per bushel, the same as in 1986, according to Linda Henry, county executive director of the Warren and Rappahannock County ASCS office.
Recently announced by USDA, the 1987 wheat program contains a 27.5 percent acreage reduction requirement. “This means that program participants will be required to maintain in acreage conservation reserve an area equal to 37.93 percent of their planted acres,” Ms. Henry said.
