Combining the two line items, “we have a little in excess of $200,000 in the kitty to construct a landfill, and that will get us to July (when the new fiscal year begins),” said Mr. McCarthy. “But at the rate we're going, we’re not going to be finished with construction until the start of the next fiscal year anyway.”
The report on projected construction costs — stamped with a big “PRELIMINARY" —shows:
• $57,472 for erosion and sedimentation control pond and diversion ditches.
• $91,452 for access roads and gravel areas.
• $58,580 for the “public convenience area,” including a building with the landfill operator’s office, record storage, and bathroom, well and septic system, fencing and gates, and grading.
