For many years, Americans have been encouraged to eat more fish to reduce their chances of having a heart attack. In 1985, Dutch researchers reported that in a 20-year survey of 852 men, those reporting that they ate an average of just one ounce of fish per day had half the rate of heart disease and were less likely to die from a heart attack than those who ate little or no fish.
