“As I said earlier,” Coach Leake observed, “it’s tough to beat a team that third time.”
But his team did fulfill one of its objectives by gaining the home court advantage for the playoffs.
The second objective, the coach said, will depend on the outcome of this weekend’s play. If the Panthers make it to the district final Saturday night, they will be assured of a berth in the regional tournament, which begins next week. That’s where Coach Leake would like to see his team go next.
But, for this week, the coach has his team focused on that next game. As he knows all too well, all the looking into next week won’t help a bit if Rappahannock doesn’t make it to Front Royal Friday.
