have one unenclosed junker, and lots larger than one acre may store two cars. No matter how large the lot, any more than two abandoned vehicles constitutes a violation, Mr. McCarthy said.
“When you get more than two vehicles, you are well into the realm of a zoning violation,” he said. “Everyone works on their cars sometimes, but if there are more than two I find it difficult to believe they are doing much work on them.”
If that sounds like a warning that the county is serious about cleaning up the abandoned vehicles littering the countryside, it is, Mr. McCarthy said.
'I'he removal program gives violators a chance to clear up the problem — and maybe even collect a little money in the process.
If the county is forced to take legal action against violators, Mr. McCarthy predicted that the program would make enforcement much easier. “We will go to the judge and present our case. We can show that it will cost the landowner nothing to comply with the law.”
