running a landfill. But those are the sorts of things you will have to decide,” he told the supervisors.
“A person is not going to work full-time on our landfill. It’s just not a big enough job,” Mr.McCarthy explained later. “When the landfill is opened to the public, we'll need a person there eight hours a day, but we sure don’t need a heavy equipment operator there eight hours a day.”
The equipment operator will be required on a daily basis only to put the daily soil cover on the solid waste; the same applies to the heavyequipment, Mr. McCarthy said.
Of neighboring jurisdictions, Culpeper and Fauquier counties contract with a private licensed operator. and Warren, Page, and Madison have a county employee w-ho runs the landfill.
