Gallery Artists and Friends
The public is invited to the opening of Middle Street Gallery’s farreaching exhibition on Saturday, April 2, from 4 to 7. Among the 45 artists are local guests and co-members. Also on exhibit will be photographs by Edik Gladkov, hand-delivered by underground from Moscow, a painting by Nabil Abed from war-tom Lebanon and an oil by a young Russian emigre now living in New York. The show will run through May 1. Gallery hours are 11 to 6 Friday through Sunday, and by appointment. Middle Street Gallery is a non-profit artists’ cooperative dedicated to supporting museum quality visual art in northern rural Virginia.
Practice to begin
Rappahannock T-Ball and Little League practice will start Monday, April 4, at 6 p.m. at the Rappahannock County Elementary School fields. Amissville will contact the players.
Bloodmobile May 4
The Extension Homemakers are again sponsoring the Red Cross Bloodmobile on May 4, at the Washington Fire Department. “Mark your calendars and make plans to give,” said Extension Agent Sandra Richardson. Oasis ‘SpringFest’ April 30
“SpringFest 88,” the first Virginia Wine Festival of the year, will be held Saturday, April 30, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Oasis Vineyard near Hume. Oasis’ SpringFest, known for its premium wines and champagne, will feature activities for the young and old: air acrobatics, grape stomping, hot air balloon rides, a cork hunt, live music and entertainment, Virginia food products, and culminating the day, the crowning of the Lord and Lady of the Vine (for the best limerick or poem relating to the wine or vine). Tickets are $5 per person in advance and $7 at the gate. Admission includes a stemmed wine glass engraved with the Oasis crest. Persons under 21 are admitted free.
