Isla Browning Eastham Kennedy, 89, of Front Royal, died March 22 in the Lynn Care Center in Front Royal.
Mrs. Kennedy was born May 9, 1898, in Rappahannock County, the daughter of Philip Byrd and Mafie Roberta Deatherage Eastham.
She was a graduate of James Madison University, attended the University of Virginia and received a degree in library science from William and Mary College. She served as librarian at Randolph-Macon Academy for 25 years and taught for many years in the public school system.
Mrs. Kennedy was a real daughter and member of the Warren Rifles Chapter, United Daughters of the Confederacy.
Her husband Peter Freeman Kennedy predeceased her.
