• Two new school buses rather than the single bus called for by Rappahannock’s standard replacement schedule, a move that will allow the county fleet to stay within the state’s guidelines for mileage accumulation.
• An increase of almost 90 percent in debt service, the result of the interest payment on the $2.1 million literary loan for the high school expansion. According to Dr. Gangel, the construction project continues on schedule and should be completed before the Aug. 1 anniversary date of the loan award. But should late arrivals of shipped materials delay work past that anniversary date, the interest payment will climb by .$7,000, he noted.
Dr. Gangel will give a preliminary budget presentation to the supervisors at their board meeting April 4. A public hearing on the proposed school budget is expected to be scheduled for later in the month.
Also at last Tuesday’s final work session, the School Board held an executive meeting to discuss personnel matters. Dr. Gangel reported that no action was taken.
