Diane Wood recently attended the 1988 international convention of the International Childbirth Education Association in Boston. ICEA is an organization of 10,000 members in 32 countries which unites people who support family-centered maternity care and believe in freedom of choice based on knowledge of alternatives.
A member of ICEA for three years, Mrs. Wood has helped expectant parents in Rappahannock, Culpeper and Warrenton prepare for birth by offering information and relaxing techniques in her classes.
ICEA’s Boston convention was attended by 660 childbirth educators, nurses, midwives, physicians, other matemal/child health care providers, and group administrators who work with women in childbirthrelated fields, as well as interested health care consumers. Participants came to the convention from all around the US and Canada, as well as from four other countries.
