The highlight of the trip will be a three-day visit to the jungle area of the Guiana Highlands. Here there will be a boat trip on the Caroni River and a stop at an Indian village. While in this jungle area, the group will also, view the Angel Falls, the highest uninterrupted waterfall in the world.
From Canaima in the Guiana Highlands the group will fly to the Caribbean island of Margarita, 15 miles off the Venezuelan coast and near the island of Trinidad. Here in this popular resort area famous for its pearl fisheries, beaches and duty free shops, the students will spend the last two days of their trip.
They will fly directly from Margarita to New York and then home.
In preparation for the trip, participating students have had to attend several after-school classes in which they have heard lectures on Venezuelan history and geography.
