Twenty Wakefield students, accompanied by three teachers and a parent, will leave this week for a 12day trip to Venezuela, the school’s first ever study tour of a Latin American nation. Over the past ten years Wakefield has organized Easter holiday trips for its students to nations of Western Europe, Italy, Greece, Crete and Egypt.
This year students will visit an area of the world which Wakefield’s Headmaster Dr. William Lynn Jr. says they need to learn more about. “Latin America," Dr. Lynn said, “is vital to the future of our own country. It’s time our students learn first hand more about its geography, history, social problems and culture.”
Venezuela was chosen for this introductory visit, Dr. Lynn explained, because it is typical of Latin American culture while also remaining safe, stable and remarkably inexpensive.
The tour will begin in the Venezuelan capital of Caracas, a city of several million people. Here the students will followr the imposing tracks
