Newspaper price increases
Due to the ever-increasing price of v K newsprint and other production costs, effective with this issue the Rappahannock News is raising its singlecopy newsstand price to 35 cents. This increase represents the first since June, 19'82. "Although we regret the necessity of this increase, we hope that the readers of the Rappahannock News will understand and will continue to support and enjoy the newspaper," said Peter Arundel, vice- r V president of Arundel Communications, in announcing the decision. , ~

Senior discount cards \ f Members of the Retired Senior v < J Volunteer Program will be making Senior * Discount Identification Cards on Tuesday, Sept. 6 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Community Service Center at 401 S. Main St. in Culpeper. Any residents of Planning District 9 who are 60 years or older are eligible for the cards, which entitle seniors to discounts at more than 100 local, ^ businesses and services. A contribution Of 1 1 $2 is requested to cover the cost of the cards. For information call CSC (825-3100).
Hunter safety course offered
A hunter education course will be offered in Rappahannock County on Sept. 14,15, and 16. Game Warden Jim . Bankston said that exact times and place will be announced next week. U. S. Senate candidate Maurice - v# Dawkins will be the guest of honor at the Culpeper Republican Committee's GOP Barbecue, which will be held at Zeuswyn Farm on Friday, Sept. 9, from 6-8 p.m. The , program will feature a special tribute to Giles H. Miller Jr., a long-time Republican activist. Congressman D. French Slaughter Jr., former congressman J. Kenneth Robinson, and national committee members Flo Traywick and Morton Blackwell are also expected to attend. Former state delegate George Beard will be the master of ceremonies.
