Also included were panel discussions on loss of habitat for wildlife, acid rain and its implications, water quality and the future of groundwater legislation. Environmental shopping, soil erosion, and pesticides were all addresses by the speakers. Dr. John Kirk of the New Jersey School of Conservation also spoke on the many disiplines that have sprung up around the whole environmental question.
More than 100 people from 30 states were represented at the conference from various garden clubs around the country.
Ed Clark, formerly of Flint Hill and now director of the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center in Harrisonburg, Virginia brought an injured but recovering eagle to be the mascot for the show. Mr. Clark spoke of the need for environmental activists to write their congressmen on wildlife and environmental legislation.
