This class mil be taught both weekends.
Instructor II: A 24-hour classroom course on instructional techniques which will lead to National Fire Protection Association certification for those who are eligible. A $4 textbook is required and may be purchased at registration in Amissville. Participants will be required to attend all four sessions of the school.
Preparing for incident command: A 16-hour National Fire Academy course which will help students to understand the concepts of incident command as they apply to incident response and fire behavior. A textbook is required, which costs $1.35 and will be available at registration. Sept. 10 and 11 only.
Commanding the initial response: A 16-hour National Fire Academy course which will help students to develop the skills necessary to establish command and make decisions on the fireground. A textbook is required, which costs $1.30 and will be available at registration. Sept. 17 and 18 only.
Chief Poling emphasized that since class sizes will be limited to 30 students, interested firefighters are encouraged to register early. Preregistration by Sept. 2 is encouraged.
Cost of the classes will be $5 per weekend, or $10 for both weekends. Checks should be made payable to the Rappahannock County Volunteer Fire and Rescue Association. Registration will begin at 7 a.m. each day. Classes begin promptly at 8 a.m. Meals are not included in the price of registration, but will be available at additional cost at the Amissville fire hall each day.
Students are expected to provide their own equipment for the classed ; Paper and pencil are also suggested. Short pants or cutoffs are not permitted attire for any of the fire school classes.
