Mr. Flynn was transported to Culpeper Memorial Hospital by the Sperryville Volunteer Rescue Squad. He was admitted with leg injuries and was later discharged.
Excessive speed results in crash
Trooper Newlin charged Aliza Gold of Vienna with reckless driving after a one-car accident early Saturday afternoon in Amissville. She was driving a 1982 Honda west on Rt. 211 near Mayhugh’s Store when the car ran off the right shoulder, struck an embankment and overturned. Ms. Gold was not injured. Trooper Newlin said that she was wearing her seat belt.
Trooper Newlin said that excessive speed was the probable cause of the accident. He estimated damage to the Honda at $2,500. The Amissville Volunteer Fire Department responded to that accident. Three hurt as car flips
Another one-car accident on Saturday afternoon left the three occupants with minor injuries.
According to Trooper R. E. Keen, a 1982 Volksw agen Rabbit operated by Josie Barretto, 47, of Woodside, N. Y. was eastbound on Rt. 211 just east of the intersection of Rt. 522 at Massies Comer.
Trooper Keen said that the car sw erved off the road onto the right shoulder and then traveled back across both lanes and into the median strip where it struck an embankment head-on and overturned.
Mrs. Barretto and her twro passengers were taken to Fauquier Hospital, where they were treated for minor injuries and released. Trooper Keen charged Mrs. Baretto with reckless driving.
He said that the occupants were w earing seat belts. The trooper credited the seat belts with saving them from more serious injuries when the car flipped over. Trooper Keen estimated that the Rabbit was a total loss.
Fire and rescue units from Flint Hill, Washington and Sperryville responded to that accident.
Speeding leads to drug arrest
Trooper Newlin placed drug charges against a second person on Sunday afternoon after the vehicle she was riding in was stopped for a traffic violation.
Trooper Newlin said he was working a radar check near Amissville when he stopped a car operated by Richard Roman of Arlington for speeding. After Mr. Roman and his passenger consented to a search of the vehicle, Trooper Newlin said he discovered a small container of marijuana.
Mr. Roman’s passenger, Tanya McKee of 815 S. 21st St., Arlington, was charged with possession of marijuana. Mr. Roman was charged with defective equipment and reckless driving.
