A Hallelujah night will be held at Family Worship Center, Old School House on Rt. 626, Mt. Salem Avenue, Washington on Saturday, Oct. 29 beginning at 6:30 p.m. “Dress up as your favorite bible character or one of God’s creations and join us for an evening of fun, prizes, candy and video,” said an organizer. Gallery opening Nov. 6

The public is invited to the opening of Middle Street Gallery’s “November Show”—a celebration of the Gallery’s seventh year, on Nov. 6 from 3-6 p.m. Member artists will be showing new work, including Drevas, Moore, Mahan, Marshall, Slack, McCue, Lewis, Kerig, Nicholas and Atherton. The show will run through the month of

November. Gallery hours are Friday through Sunday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and by appointment. Currently on view through October is the one-person show of paintings and drawings by Eva Wine entitled “Tracks.” Wine explores the theme of footprints left behind in the snow, evoking the presence of someone who has been there but is there no longer.

Amissville Baptist's centennial

Amissville Baptist Church’s centennial celebration will be held Oct. 30 beginning at 11 a.m. Dinner on the grounds, music program in afternoon. History is being printed. Commemarative plates will be sold. Members, former members and friends are invited. The church will furnish meat and drinks.

Book signing in Culpeper

Pat Oliphant, nationally syndicated editorial cartoonist, will sign copies of his new book, Nothing Basically Wrong, at the Comer Shelf bookstore in Culpeper on Saturday, Oct. 29 from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Winner of the Pulitzer Prize for editorial cartooning, Mr. Oliphant has been called “one of the most provocative and respected” in his field. His work appears in more than 500 newspapers worldwide, including the Washington Post, Miami Herald and theSan Francisco Chronicle. He is a part-time resident of Slate Mills.
