Surviving are his wife, Lena Jenkins; two sons, Russell J. “Tommy” Jenkins, Lignum and James Jenkins, Culpeper; three sisters, Rosie Jenkins, Culpeper, Frances Jenkins, Gordonsville and Nellie Sisk, Sperryville; two brothers, Jerry Jenkins, Woodville and Ivan Jenkins, Winchester; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

The funeral was conducted Oct. 16 at the Clore Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Harold Pickeral officiating. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery, Culpeper.

Belle Welch

Belle Mattie Welch, 86, of Hume, died Oct. 16 at her home.

Mrs, Welch was bom Oct. 13, 1902, in Conde, the daughter of the late John and Mary Allison Baker. She was married to the late Edward L. Welch.

Surviving are two daughters, Ethel Feldhauser, Front Royal and Viola Wright, Hume; three sons, John E. Welch, Woodbridge, Garland J. Welch, Vienna and Hubert L. Welch, Hume; one step-daughter, Mary Baker, Marshall; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

The funeral was held Oct. 19 at the Hume Baptist Church with the Rev. Randall West officiating. Burial was in Leeds Cemetery in Markham.

Virginia Sheppard

Virginia Catherine Sheppard, 67, of Stanley, died Oct. 10 at Rockingham Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Sheppard was bom Dec. 12, 1920 in Page County and was a daughter of the late Ernest Lee and Carrie Wilson Purdham. She was a member of the Church of the Valley.

On April 19, 1939 she married John Mathew Sheppard, who died Nov. 12, 1966.

Surviving are a son, John M. Sheppard Jr., Stanley; two daughters, Doris Jean Sheppard, Stanley
