back usuries, as well as facial cuts. The driver of the truck, Daniel W. Sealock, 23, of Gulfport, Mississippi, was not injured. The truck, owned by Wingate Taylor-Maid of East St. Louis, Illinois, sustained about $1,000 damage. Trooper Newlin estimated damage to the pickup at $4,000.
Trooper Newlin charged Ms. Getter with reckless driving. He said that excessive speed and the weather, specifically a wet road, contributed to the accident. He said all three occupants were wearing seat belts.
The Sperryville Volunteer Fire Department, Washington VFD and Amissville VFD’s crash truck also responded to the accident.
Accident nets DUI charge
William Edward Sisk, 42, of Sperryville, was charged with driving under the influence and reckless driving as the result of an accident about 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15.
According to Trooper W. F. Herman, who investigated the accident, Sisk pulled out of a private driveway at the intersection of Rt. 522 and Rt. 231 east of Sperryville. As he turned left toward Sperryville, his 1986 Ford pickup swung wide into the southbound liuie, and struck a 1977 Cadillac head on.
Trooper Herman said the driver of the Cadillac, Delma Kling of Luray, and her son, were transported to Page Memorial Hospital where they were treated and released. Sisk was not injured in the accident.
Trooper Herman said that Mrs. Kling was wearing her seatbelt. Her son, riding in the back seat, was not. He said he could not determine whether Sisk was wearing his.
The trooper estimated damage to each vehicle at $3,000. Fire and rescue personnel from Sperryville and Washington responded to the accident.
Minor accident at Thornton Gap
Trooper R. E. Keen reported .that there were no serious injuries in an accident at the entrance to Skyline Drive on Thornton Gap Sunday afternoon.
He said that a 1984 Ford 4-door, driven by Alex Varga of New Market, was eastbound on Rt. 211 and stopped to turn left across the westbound lane onto the entrance ramp io Skyline Drive. He pulled across traffic and into the path of a 1984 Toyota 4-door, driven by Molly Ann Fink of Bethesda, Md.
Two passengers in Ms. Fink’s car sustained minor usuries, Trooper Keen said, but no one was transported to the hospital.
Mr. Varga was charged with failure to yield the right of way. Damage to the Varga vehicle was estimated at $3,000.
