Shakespeare at Gay St. The Rude Mechanicals, a Shakespearean troupe from the Folger Theater, will perform "In Lovers' Eyes," a collection of comedy from the Bard at the Gay St. Theatre on Saturday, July 15 at 8 p.m. The troupe is a group of young artists who enjoy the comic genius of Shakespeare and are dedicated to presenting his works to a wide variety of audiences. This rare area performance is being sponsored by RAAC. For ticket information call RAAC's Arts Hotline (675-3073). Reading Club continues
Local youngsters continue to receive a chance to spend an hour listening to stories and pursuing their own paths through the county's library during the Paddington Reading Club each Wednesday at 10 a.m. Still ahead is a participatory music and movement program with Barbara Caillagh, as well as a Paddington bear film. "There will be other fun and interesting programs on the Wednesdays to come," said Doris Donaid, one of the library's volunteers. All children are invited to attend these free programs. The Rappahannock County Library will be closed Mondays for the remainder of the summer, beginning next Monday, July 17. According to Library Board s' member Grace Sims, the change was made necessary by the lack of sufficient volunteer l staff the keep the building open. Mrs. Sipis said they hope to return to the regular schedule in the fall. Hours for the rest of the Rummer are Tuesdays 9 a.m.-8 p.m.; Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, 9 a.m.-5p.m.; Saturdays, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. For information about library services or serving as a volunteer, call the library (6753780).
Senior ID cards, respite care
The Retired Senior Volunteer Program will take photos for senior identification cards at the Rappahannock-Rapidan Community Services Center on Tuesday, Aug. 1 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. The center is located at 401 S. Main St. in Culpeper. The ID cards make seniors eligible for discounts at dozens of area merchants. RRCSC is also forming a respite care cooperative for families with children or adult members who have mental or physical handicaps.
Recycling program to expand
The county's recycling center will soon accept tin cans, according to litter and recycling coordinator Nina Stamer. The additional service should be available in the coming months. She added that Chuck Stinnett of Piedmont Recycling, who handles the recycling, is working on recycling plastics as well. For information about recycling, contact Mrs. Stamer (6753810).
