To the editor:
Let me say, “Wake up Rappahannock County.” The so-called forces of good are at it again. The group led by Jon Heddleston and Tom Von Fange have once more decided that we are incapable of deciding what should be allowed on our television sets.
First, they secretly arranged to remove videos they found offensive from Panarama Video in Sperryville. Now, they are attempting to $?top cable television from reaching oQr county.
What exactly are their fears?
Firstly, they fear the Playboy Channel. The Playboy Channel has been suffering from a dropping subscription rate and may very well go out of business.
Secondly, whether or not any children are exposed to this programming is a parental responsibity.
Lastly, Mr. Heddleston expressed concern that poor families would spend money on cable television. How people spend their money is their own business.
I am perfectly capable of deciding what I will watch. My wife and I are perfectly capable of deciding what our children can watch.
What are the end results of the thinking of Mr. Von Fange and Mr. Heddleston?
It’s true they succeeded in getting rid of the adult movies in Sperryville. However, the owner of Panarama Video claimed she only had the movies because some of her customers requested them. Were the same paying customers informed
