Piedmont District Supervisor Charles K. “Pete” Estes wanted the supervisors to go along with the agreement the town and Library Board had worked out, but Hampton District representative Mike Massie, noting that at 12 percent that could amount to anything from $6,000 to $1S,000, said, "I wouldn't sign a contract that said I would pav $6,000 or $18,000."
Frank Reynolds, speaking as the attorney for the town, told the board that the town had offered to rent for the third year at $1,100, but the Library Board had turned that down.
“We have to learn to live within a budget," Mr. Massie said. He made a motion to amend the agreement to authorize $1,100 per month rent for the third year, if necessary, and that motion passed by a vote of 4-1, with Mr. Estes voting against it. The Library Board agreed to that change, and the agreement was signed.
