Flu vaccinations urged
The Rappahannock County Health * Department continues to offer vaccinations against the three strains of influenza which are expected to cause problems this winter. * Some people are particularly urged to get the shot, including the elderly, children in school or day care with exposure to large groups of other children, adults who work in health-care related professions, and individuals of any age with chronic heart or lung disease. Though flu is often thought of as more of an inconvenience, for thousands each winter it is a killer— in fact, it is the fourth leading cause of death in older adults. The health department offers vaccinations by appointment. Fees are charged on a sliding scale, based on income. For more information, call the health department office, 675-3516.
