ORDINANCE

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN thatthe Board ofSupervisorsof Rappahannock County will hold a public hearing on Wednesday, January 3,1990, at 7:00 p.m., at the Courthouse in Washington, VA, to consider the following ordinance:

Pursuant to the authority of Section 46.2-1313 of the Code of Virginia, all of the provisions and requirements of the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia contained in Title 46.2 of the (rode of Virginia, except those provisions and requirements the violation of which constitutes a felony, and except those provisions and requirements which by their very nature can name no application to or within the County of Ranpahannock, are hereby adopted and incorporated herein by reference and made applicable within the County of Rappahannock. Such provisioas and requirements are hereby adopted, mutatis mutandis, and made a part of this Ordinance as fully as though set forth at length herein, and it shall be unlawful for any person, within the said County to violate, or fail, neglect, or refuse to comply with, any provision of Title 46.2 of the Code of Virginia which is adopted by this Ordinance; provided, that in no event shall the penalty imposed for the violation of any provisions adopted hereby exceed the penalty imposed for a similar offense under title 46.2 of the Code of Virginia

In the enforcement of this Ordinance, law enforcement officers shall, in issuing a traffic summons or citation, charge the violator with the numbered section of title 46.2 with the lettcr."R" as a prefix to such number, to indicate that the violation being charged is a County, and not a State, law violation.

Further, any person or group of persons wishing to request tliat the motor vehicle laws of the Commonwealth be extended onto private street right-of-ways within subdivisions in Rappahannock County for the purposes of law enforcement are invited to attend the hearing and make their wishes known to the Board of Supervisors.
