To the editor:
My job takes me regularly to one of the nearby landfills, where 1 often s^e Lou Hatter’s “castoff treasures” turned into air pollution (smoke) while the remaining solids are bulldozed into the earth. At best they are mangled beyound repair and their usefulness destroyed as they are converted into recyclables. That’s at best!
In a recent issue of this newspaper two writers disparaged “dumpster drivers who prowl the sites looking for castoff treasures” and “scavengers in and out of the dumpsters,” both of which represent in reality citizens who approach recycling as free enterprise.
