His integrity, Judge Snead continued, has set a standard against which all other members of the Bar Association may be judged. “I have had the opportunity to work with Jim Bill both as a lawyer and as a judge and can tell you I have always found his conduct to be exemplary.”
When Mr. Fletcher takes a case. Judge Snead said, “He follows through. It doesn’t matter if he’s appointed — he has done a lot without compensation, or for very little.”
Mr. Miller also praised Mr. Fletcher’s integrity, calling him “a source of honest and competent advice for as long as I can remember — both inside and outside his law practice.”
As a trusted barrister, tiebreaker for the county’s Board of Supervisors, and its commissioner of accounts, Mr. Miller said, “He has been entrusted with more confidential information than anyone else in this county by a large amount — and it always stayed confidential.”
Aside from his legal practice, Mr. Fletcher has willingly offered assistance to his neighbors. Whether lending a hand to fix plumbing or machinery, or writing a letter of recommendation for a young scholar seeking entrance to school, Mr. Fletcher is always willing to help.
"He is a person who wants to help others in any way he can,” Judge Snead said.
