fix straddle lots

At a special meeting Dec. 22 the Board of Supervisors approved a resolution to solve the problem of small lots divided by the*boundary with the Town of Washington. The Town Council approved the same resolution at its Dec. 13 meeting.
Landowners whose land is divided by the boundary can petition to have the land added to the town. At least half of the parcel must already be within the town, and no parcel over four acres will be eligible.
County administrator John McCarthy said that he had met with town attorney Frank Reynolds and county attorney Peter Luke and considered three methods for dealing with the problem.
They first considered having the town and county adopt amendments to their ordinances that would allow zoning similar to that in the town to extend to portions of the county. That would have required the county to adopt a Historic District
