The successful applicant will have the ability to operate medium - duty highway equipment, perform heavy manual labor, complete reports, instruct others, and perform preventive and minor maintenance on equipment. Valid Va. operators license is required. HIGHWAY CONSTRUCTION INSPECTOR A -12903

The Warrenton residency is seeking a qualified indivudal to inspect assigned phases of highway and related structure construction and maintenance projects. Will also inspect and test materials, advise contractors on their acceptability and placement, and perform other related duties. The successful applicant will have the knowledge of highway construction, inspection techniques, methods, procedures, construction terms and symbols,- and the ability to interpret contracts, special provisions, plans and specifications, use engineering field equipment, record data clearly and concisely, interpret and prepare reports, communicate effectively both orally and in writing, and perform basic mathematic and geometric calculations. Applicants will be considered for the position at the level of Construction Inspector Trainee if the qualified applicant pool for Construction Inspector A is insufficient. A trainee must have knowledge of basic mathematics including geometry and the ability to record data clearly and concisely, read and interpret instructional and technical manuals and communicate effectively both orally and in writing. The position requires the willingness to work adjusted schedules and overtime hours. Some work may be required in the vicinity of devices emitting low level ionization radiation.
