Parenting group in Culpeper

A Parent-Child Education Group will be held 9:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m., Tuesdays in Culpeper. The group will cover basic parenting techniques and child-development skills. For more information, contact: Parent-Infant Education at 825-5656 or SAFE at 825-8876.

Flint Hill VFD fundraiser

The Flint Hill Volunteer Fire Department is sponsoring a gun raffle to raise money for the department. One gun will be given away for each of the next 12 months. Tickets are $20 each, are good for the entire 12-month period, and are available from any Flint Hill VFD member. They may also be ordered by mail; send a check or money order payable to Flint Hill VFD, P.O. Box 150, Flint Hill, VA 22627. Tickets will be sent by return mail.

Gypsy-moth open houses

Meetings will be held 6 p.m.-9 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 4; and 10 a.m.-2 p.m., Friday, Jan. 5 at the Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church (intersection of U.S. 522 and Route 626 at Scrabble). The purpose of the open houses is to inform the public about the gypsy moth and to obtain public involvement in the treatment decisions that will be implemented in the spring of 1990. The proposed treatment program is part of the federally funded Appalachian Integrated Pest Management Project (AIPM) which included approximately the southern third of Rappahannock County.
