Baked goods needed
The Washington Volunteer Fire Department’s Ladies Auxiliary will hold its annual Fourth of July bake sale in front of the Thrift Shop, across the street from Washington Baptist Church. The auxiliary needs donations of baked goods for the sale. For information about donations, contact Ruth Clark (675-3608). The auxiliary’s Thrift Shop will also be open from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. on July 4. All proceeds from the sale and the shop benefit the fire department and the auxiliary.
Setti's paintings shown
A one-woman exhibition of realistic landscape oil paintings by native Virginia artist Drema A. Setti is hanging in the Middle St. Gallery through July 1. Ms. Setti has visited several of the state’s rural, mountainous areas and produced paintings with a strong emphasis on color and spatial arrangement. Gallery hours are Friday through Sunday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and by appointment. For information, call 675-3440.
RAAC Talent Show June 30
The Annual Rappahannock Talent and Variety Show will be held at the Gay Street Theater in Washington on Saturday, June 30 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. The show will feature dancers, opera, folk, gospel, poetry readings, piano solos and much much more. Come to this funfilled evening featuring talented individuals from Rappahannock and surrounding counties. Tickets are only $5 and will be sold at the door. Benefit softball tournament
The mothers of the Rappahannock Athletic Association will sponsor a softball tournament on Saturday, June 30 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Stuart Field in Amissville. Admission will be 25 cents, and concessions will be available. All proceeds will benefit the Rappahannock Athletic Association’s Little League program. Carnival at Amissville
The Amissville Firefighters’ Carnival began June 27 and will continue through June 30 at the carnival grounds. On Thursday June 28, the parade will begin at 7 p.m. Crowning of the carnival queen will be held at 11 p.m. on Friday night and the drawing for the grand prize of $1,000 will be held on Saturday. There will be a ride special ThursdaySaturday for $6 each evening. “Come, bring the entire family and enjoy the rides, games, shows, etc.,” said an organizer. Rides will be provided by West Virginia Amusement Company.
