More than 400,000 seventh through twelfth graders in Virginia’s public schools received a brochure before the end of the school year explaining the state’s expanded “Use and Lose” law. The brochure, distributed by the Commonwealth Alliance for Drug Rehabilitation and Education (CADRE), also was made available to private schools.

CADRE is Virginia’s coordinating body for alcohol and other drug abuse issues affecting youth. Attorney General Mary Sue Terry is CADRE’s chairman.
“I believe the strengthened ‘Use and Lose’ law will serve its purpose in getting our young people to stop and think before they ever use alcohol or drugs in the first place,” Ms. Terry said.
