Lom-Bar-Dy’s Restaurant in Amissville has undergone a change.
Not only has it new wallpaper, a fresh coat of paint, a fine new floor and new appliances in the kitchen, it has a new proprietor.
Hattie Settle has taken reins as proprietor and after a few months of changes she has her ducks in a row — literaly speaking — as blue and white duck pattern place settings stand pretty on the shelves behind the lunch counter where Mrs. Settle serves personally prepared meals ranging from fine prime rib to zesty lasagna or fresh flounder filled with crab meat; or just a grilled cheese sandwich with chips.
Last October, Mrs. Settle signed a three year lease with Lom-BarDy’s owner Ira Poe. With chef Roger Taylor, and one full-time waitress and two part-time waitresses’s help, Ms. Settle offers Rappahannock yet another location to dine in the county.
Managing Lom-Bar-Dy’s has been a desire of Mrs. Settle’s for some time. Now, it’s a dream come true.
“Everytime I’d go by this place, I’d tell my husband I’d love to have the place as my own,” the Northern Virginia native now an Amissville resident said. She explained her desire persisted despite her vow to never operate another restaurant, as her previous experience with two family-style places in Culpeper and one with a seafood buffet in Warrenton had discouraged her from any
