The School Board approved a change in next year’s budget which cuts one teaching position from the Rappahannock County Elementary School staff.
The change, which was approved at the payout meeting last Thursday, was brought about by the resignation of Mary Ann Biggs, who worked about half time as assistant principal and about half time as guidance counselor.
Raye Tupper, who will replace Ms Biggs as assistant principal, will not fill the guidance position. Candy Lamma, who has been working part time in guidance, will be shifted to a full-time guidance counselor next year.
The change from one full-time person and one part-time person covering positions in guidance and administration to full-time persons in each category, required a cut elsewhere, Superintendent David Gangel told the board.
