“The skunk had one of the baby goats by the leg,” Mrs. Baker said, adding “my husband had to hit it over the head to make it let go.
“My husband brought the baby goat inside for me to care for while I called the vet,” Mrs. Baker said, adding the veterinarian was the one to suggest the skunk was rabid and needed to be disposed of. “He said to chop off its head and take it to the Health Department for testing,” she. said, explaining that while her Amissville farm boarders Rappahannock and Culpeper counties, the rabid skunk was taken to the Fauquier County Health Department and registered in Fauquier County “because my vet is in Fauquier and that’s where he suggested I take the animal,” she said.
