The community extends a warm welcome to the new pastor at United Methodist. Rev. Peter Weems began his pastorate on Sunday, A welcome reception followed the Service.
Also the community is1 glad to have Blakey Bates return to the area. He is a superintendent of construction for the Virginia Department of Transportation.
Vacation Bible School will be held at the Amissville United Methodist Church next week, July 9-13, from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Everyone is invited to attend. For more information, call Mrs. Latham at 937-4515.
The Rappahannock Athletic Association’s annual picnic for Little League players, family and friends, is set for August 4. An awards ceremony and drawing will also be held that day. Appreciation is expressed to all those who came out to cheer on the moms of Little Leaguers in the softball tournament held last Saturday at Stuart’s Field. (A few of us older moms and grandmas had sore thighs for a day or two following the event; but everyone had a great time). The gentlemen did a superb job of running the concession stand. Many vowed to do it again.
