supervisors’ decision on whether or not to hold a hearing must be at least 30 days after the original complaint is made. The public hearing would be held at the following month’s meeting.
Mr. Massie asked how the county could recover the cost of holding the public hearing, and the supervisors decided then to amend the ordinance so that that cost could be collected from the owner.
“He would only incur the expense if you make the finding he’s in violation,” Mr. Luke said.
Col. Bingham asked if the supervisor whose district contained the property under consideration could work with the property owner to get the building fixed. Piedmont District representative Charles K. “Pete” Estes warned Col. Binghma not to try to make a decision independently of the rest of the supervisors.
“I like the simplicity of the ordinance,” Mr. Luke said.
On Mr. Massie’s motion, the ordinance was adopted unanimously.
