Ladies Auxiliary to meet

The Flint Hill Ladies Auxiliary will meet on Tuesday, July 10 instead of the meeting scheduled for Monday, July 2 at 7:30 p.m. at the fire hall. All members are urged to attend.

Soccer day camp

Gallery offers classes

The Middle Street Gallery is offering several summer art classes. “Art of the Vine" will be held on Saturday, July 7 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The instructor will be Catherine Kiley. It will include collection, preparation and using a variety of native vines. All materials will be provided, the fee is $40 for gallery members, $50 for non-members. For information, call 937-5971. Janet Kerig will coordinate an “Arts and Crafts Camp for Young People” from July 9-13, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day. The emphasis will be on creativity, fun and the great outdoors, and activities will be designed for campers ages 6-12. Pre-registration is required, call 987-8670 for information or registration. “Art from Nature for Young People” will be held on July 16 and 23 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Wreathmaking, basketry and creative use of natural objects will be covered. Flint Hill carnival set

The Flint Hill Volunteer firemen have set August 1-4 for their annual carnival. Wednesday will feature a special ride price of $4 for the entire evening. The parade will be held on Thursday beginning at 6:30 p.m. Saturday will be the awarding of prizes which will include at 1990 Ford. For more information call Moe Walker at 675-3441. “Come, greet your old friends and make new ones,” concluded Mr. Walker.

Ruritan's beef barbecue

The Amissville Ruritan’s beef barbecue will be held on Saturday, July 7 from 4 to 8 p.m. Cost is $8 for adults and $4 for children under 12. For additional information or tickets call Jerry Curtis at 937-4633.

Dance at CCLC

Rock *n Roll fans of all ages are invited to join The Child Care and Learning Center on Saturday, July 14 from 8 p.m. to midnight at CCLC’s pavilion for a rock ‘n roll dance featuring the Oil’s. Admission is $7 per person. Refreshments will be available. All proceeds will benefit CCLC. For more information call 675-3237.

Welfare League to elect officers

The Rappahannock Animal Welfare League will be electing officers for the term 1990-91 at a meeting on Aug. 7. The meeting will start at 7:30 p.m. and will be held at the usual meeting place of the Washington Volunteer Fire Department. All members are urged to attend.

Car wash

The Child Care and Learning Center school age club will sponsor a car wash on Thursday, July 5 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Cost will be $3. Proceeds to benefit CCLC.

'My Left Foot' at Theater

The movie My Left Foot will be playing at the Gay Street Theater on Saturday and Sunday, July 7 and 8 at 7:30 p.m. each night. Daniel Day-Lewis gives a fiery, physically awesome performance as the reallife Irish painter and writer Christy Brown, who was bom with cerebral palsy and could freely move only his left foot. The theater is now air conditioned.

Support group to meet

A support group for those suffering from environmental illnesses, allergies and undiagnosed illnesses will meet on Wednesday, July 18 at the home of Clay Fulghum. For more information call 987-3105.
