The Amissville Ruritan Club will host their 29th annual beef barbecue this Saturday, July 7 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Amissville fire hall. Price is $8 for adults and $4 for children under 12. Tickets may be purchased at the door. Bring the whole family and enjoy a delicious dinner while supporting the Ruritans. Miss Michelle May, a former Gastleton and Amissville resident who now resides in Stafford has been selected to attend the 1990 Dance Critics’ Conference, part of American Dance Festival. She is among 10 fellowship winners chosen from a field of national and international applicants. The conference continues throughout the summer wtith concerts by a variety of modern djince companies. Miss May won a flill scholarship to this summer’s dance critics’ program with classes in dance history and theory, writing and some dancing. Miss May was a full time reporter for the Rappahannock News and was also the Castleton correspondent while here.
Many area residents turned out to wish Mrs. Irma Lawson good luck in her move to Philadelphia. Guests were delighted to see her daughter Ney also at the luncheon. Congratulations to Emily Taylor who collected the most money for the heart fund drive recently at Rappahannock Elementary School. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Poling.
