On Tuesday, as the exhibitors and their adult leaders completed the final clean-up detail at the Culpeper Agricultural Enterprises, the participants looked back 6n yet another successful Culpeper-MadisonRappahannock Farm Show.
“Overall, the Farm Show went real well,” said Home Extension Agent -Helen Smith, who along with Agricultural Extension Agent Tommy Williams coordinated the county’s participation.
A total of 21 4-H youngsters participated in the livestock, baking and home industry competitions, and the county brought home its share of ribbons, Mrs. Smith added. The Updike family of Washington won a total of seven Champion awards for brothers Scott and Justin’s entries in the cattle, sheep and hog competitions.
Scott won Grand Champion ewe and lamb, Reserve Grand Champion market lamb, Champion Suffolk ewe, and Reserve Grand Champion for his exotic cross steer.
His brother Justin won Supreme Champion for his ram lamb, Grand Champion for hogs, Reserve Grand Champion steer and Overall Champion for his showmanship in the sheep competition.
In the livestock competitions, the following county 4-H members brought home awards for their entries, which are listed by category.
