Some time ago, Rappahannock County Republicans invited Seventh District Congressman D. French Slaughter Jr. to participate in the Flint Hill Carnival Parade Thursday evening, Aug. 2. The following letter expressed Mr. Slaughter’s regrets: “Thank you for your kind invitation to the Firemen’s Parade on August 2. Due to an extremely heavy schedule, I will be unable to attend.
“I want to extend my best wishes for a successful day. Again, thank you for your invitation, and I hope to see you soon.”
